Paris "The city of lights" and the capital of France has always been a destination for traders, students and those on religious pilgrimages. But its tourism in the proper sense of the term began on a large scale only with the appearance of rail travel.

Paris sightseeing:


Paris counts a lot many historical places of interest – The Eiffel tower, Notre Dame, Arc De Triomphe, Pompidou center, Sacre Coeur and Montmartre.
Paris museums and monuments are by far its esteemed attractions. The city’s most prized museum ‘The Louvre’ sees over 8 million visitors a year. It also holds many works of art including Mona Lisa and Venus de Milo statue.
Eiffel Tower• EIFFEL TOWER: This being 300 meters in length provides cable car to reach the top, but walking up step by step through the belly of this giant monument will help you have the real feel of the history and magnitude. At each stage you can sit down and enjoy coffee – they do a better cappuccino.
• THE INVALIDES: Beneath the dome lie two churches – one for the soldiers and the other intended as a mausoleum for the king but now containing the mortal remains of Napoleon.
Notre Dame • NOTRE DAME: It’s a gothic masterpiece situated in the heart of Paris. Entrance is free.

• AQUABOULEVOUD: This heated aquatic paradise offers giant slides, waterfalls and countless other attractions.
• PARC DELA VILLETTE: It has theme gardens for children, workshops, a bike path, pony clubs and much more.
• PARC FLORAL DE PARIS: It’s an activity park including more than 60 games for children.

WILD WORLD

The zoological park of Paris lies on 15 hectares. 1000 animals, 600 birds of 82 species, 535 mammals live here. Most of the animals living in the park belong to nearly extinct species. The mission of this park is conservation and reproduction. It has got 150 births a year.

CHILDRENS’ ATTRACTIONS


• EURODISNEY PARIS: An American theme park where you can’t help smiling from dawn to dusk. From Paris the journey lasts between 35 – 40 minutes. Get off at the last bus stop and the Disney village is on one side with park on the other.
• PLAYMOBIL: Close to Disney resort this French theme park is based on the characters of French cartoon Asterix. At this fun park, the children are actually playing among the building blocks and of playmobils creations.

TOURIST TIPS

• RIVER TRANSPORT ON THE SEINE: Wonderful way to travel around Paris is on the river. We recommend ‘Boat buses. The boat stops at 7 stops along the river. The two day pass is slightly is expensive than the one day pass but its worth getting the two day pass.
• CURRENCY: Payment could be in both franc and euro. French coins come in denominations of 20, 10, 5, 2 and 1 franc and then 50, 20, 10, and 5 centimes. Coins are very useful for tips, parking meters etc.

PARIS AIRPORTS

• CHARLES DE GAULLE: This is situated 23 km north east of Paris. The Air France bus is an excellent option to reach the center of Paris.
• ORLY: It is on the southern Paris with two terminals. Again Air France bus is of best choice.
