ORLY AEROPORT PARIS
Orly airport is situated to South of Paris in Orly and also in Villeneue-Le-Roi partially. It’s an international airport operating flights daily to European cities, Africa, the Caribbean and The Middle East. Orly stood as important Airport of Paris until the Charles De Gaulle International Airport came into the operation. After the Charles De Gaulle Airport more of the international traffic has shifted from Orly to the Charles De Gaulle. But still Orly ranks as the busiest Airport in France for the Domestic Traffic and taking into consideration of the passenger boarding it ranks the second in France.

The Orly Airport having seven communes and two departments spreads over 5.9 square miles of total land. The authority of management of the airport is taken care of by the Aeroports de Paris which also handles the management of the Charles de Gaulle International Airport with Le Bourget Aeroport, and many smaller airports in the Paris city and its suburbs. The Orly Airport having two terminals South and West is linked to city Paris by Air France buses, Orly buses i.e. the RATP buses and by the automatic metro service Orlyval that connects metro to RER B Antony station. It is planned for a tramway link for the early future. The metro Orlyval is free for using between the two terminals of Orly South terminal and the West terminal.
The Orly airport was originally called as the Villeneur-Orly Airport; this was opened for services in 1932 in the Paris suburbs, and was taken as the secondary to the Le Bourget airport. In the Second World War it was being bombed and destroyed by France themselves and the United States Army Air Forces as the airport was occupied by the German Luftwaffe. After finishing the battle of Normandy, United States Army Air Force in the July and August of 1944 repaired and rebuilt the Orly Airport and used it ass airfield A-47 tactically.
The American Air force used Orly airport as primary air base up to March 1947 after which it was returned back to the French Government. Then onwards France since January 1st 1948 France government started to use it as commercial airport. But still some small part of the Orly airport was leased by the United Air Force for air transporting facilities until 1967. Complete name of the airport is Paris Orly Airport. Airport code is ORY.
